If there is one thing I have learnt in my relatively short time at Mila Maintenance and Installation, it is that nobody sits back thinking that after 30 years we have got it right. Far from it, everybody from the top down is always looking at what we can improve, how can we make things better for our clients, and for ourselves.

Looking to build on the foundations we have laid

If there is one thing I have learnt in my relatively short time at Mila Maintenance and Installation, it is that nobody sits back thinking that after 30 years we have got it right. Far from it, everybody from the top down is always looking at what we can improve, how can we make things better for our clients, and for ourselves.

That suits me fine, I am very much of the same mind-set and I’m excited to have the opportunity to build on the foundations we have already laid.

My expertise is in public sector procurement and having the opportunity to bring my knowledge to this business is exciting for me personally and will help the business to be even more efficient as it continues to grow.

I am responsible for all bids and the estimating function within the business, and I believe the more work we do upfront in terms of understanding what our clients really want will help us to deliver for them when jobs come to fruition.

Often, we are asked to source obsolete parts, it is important we find them before we bid….

We bid for works across a whole range of services from cyclical maintenance to responsive repairs, and window and specialist fire door installation services. It is important that we can carry out the works required, and we put a lot of effort in upfront with our own supply chains to ensure that if we are successful, we can fully expedite the jobs in a timely and efficient manner.

Often what we are asked to do means sourcing obsolete parts or replacement parts which perform the same function, it is important we do this before bidding rather than afterwards when we might find we cannot give the client what they need.

We believe we have worked on over 300 specifications in our 30 years of trading…

We are also continuing to see the variety of specifications we are asked to quote against increase as more and more windows and doors come up for maintenance for the first time. If you consider that we have been trading for 30 years, just think how much product development there has been over that time, and how many specifications there are in the market for window profiles, gaskets and hardware. We believe we have worked on over 300 specifications in our 30 years of trading.

These are trends I don’t see changing anytime soon, and it is an exciting challenge for us to keep on top of them and to keep our business at the forefront of people’s minds when it comes to repairing and maintaining windows and doors in social housing and commercial buildings.

As I said at the outset, we are not the kind of business to sit still, and we will certainly continue to evolve our thinking and how we can service our clients to the highest standards.

As far as I am concerned, we are still a new business looking to grow and develop our offering and I am excited to be a part of it.
