Graduation for Dean and Sarah

Installation Operations Manager Dean Bradford and Office Manager Sarah Whitaker are the latest members of the Mila Maintenance and Installations team to graduate from the Horizon leadership training programme.

Following on from Managing Director Tristan Cooke completing the programme previously, alongside a number of colleagues from the Aaron Isle Group, Dean and Sarah graduated at a ceremony in June.

Speaking about their success Tristan commented, “Congratulations to them both, I am delighted for them.  With all the other challenges of the last year, their commitment to see the programme through has been outstanding and I know they are already benefitting from what they have learnt”.

“As a company, investing in training for our existing staff is hugely important – for the staff themselves, for the business, that will benefit from their enhanced skills, and as a really positive message to other people already in the business or those who might join in the future to see that we are committed to their professional and personal development”.

Speaking about their achievements and the course programme Sarah highlighted the MBTI section as the part she got the most from and believes the knowledge she got from that, and further learning about how she can successfully coach her staff will help her significantly in her role.

“I think there is no doubt that what we have learnt over the past year will help hugely in our roles as members of the senior team.  For me, and having just completed 20 years with Mila Maintenance and Installation, the part that really excites me is knowing so much more about coaching, and how I can support and positively impact the team I manage.  The programme is very much about professional development, but personal development goes hand in hand with that and I am really pleased that I was put forward to go on it; it has already helped me, and I know it will long into the future”.

For Dean it was the ‘Seven habits of highly effective people” module that really struck a chord. “When you are out and about on site every day as I am it is sometimes difficult to be able to stand back and see the wood for the trees.  Completing the leadership training programme has helped massively, and particularly the seven habits module.  Simple tips to put into action every day to make you more effective is a great tool to have at your disposal, and like Sarah, I can already see the benefits of being a part of the programme”.

“We all know it has been a tough year and fitting the programme into the changing working patterns we have all had to adapt to wasn’t easy, but it was well worth it, and I am delighted to have completed it.  It was a great experience to be a part of it and something I would like to do more of in the future”.
