Telford Homes London – Window overhauls and high-rise glazing

We were asked to visit the dual-purpose development in Dalston, London where the Holy Trinity School sits below a residential living development of 101 single, double and three bedroom flats.

We had worked for the same client previously on Roosevelt Tower on the edge of the City, replacing high level glazing and overhauling window mechanisms, and we were approached as a framework partner to complete similar works at the Trinity School development.

In both the schools building and at high levels in the residential areas there was glazing and spandrel panels that needed replacing.

Carrying out the works

Whilst we were able to carry out the replacement glazing to the school building during a mid- term break, we nevertheless had to liaise closely with the head as the site hosts a range of non-educational events such as after school club and community based activities. Close co-ordination with the specialist installation team and the school as well as other local stakeholders was essential to ensure there were no health and safety concerns on the site and no potential danger to anybody using the facility whilst the works were carried out.

The high-level glazing works were more complex however.

The seventh and eighth story balconies needed glass and panels replacing and a two-day programme to close the local roads to enable safe access for the high-level crane mounted platform was agreed with the local council.

Specialist Contractor

As a specialist contractor Mila Maintenance and Installation was ideally placed to carry out these works for Telford Homes using our supply chain partners and our management expertise to complete the job with the minimum of disruption to the school and to residents in their living accommodation.

Feedback from Telford Homes London – Window overhauls and high-rise glazing

"This was a site that had the potential to be difficult to manage because of the number of parties that were going to be impacted whilst the works were carried out, but I was really happy that residents and our school clients were kept informed throughout the programme and that health and safety considerations were professionally managed".
