For part of my time, I am focussed on Mila Maintenance and Installation which has given me a great new perspective on my Group Finance role and allowed me to get into the day-to-day operations of the company in far more detail”.

Lorna Miall's role at Mila Maintenance

Lorna joined Mila Maintenance and Installation in September 2020 as Finance Director but has been with the business’ parent company Arran Isle for 11 years.  Prior to that she was a Manager within the Audit department at PwC where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant (now FCA).

“I am Head of Group Finance for Arran Isle and as such spend most of my time with overall responsibility for the entire Group’s financial results.

For part of my time, I am focussed on Mila Maintenance and Installation which has given me a great new perspective on my Group Finance role and allowed me to get into the day-to-day operations of the company in far more detail”.

Lorna’s role involves supporting Managing Director Tristan Cooke and the rest of the Senior Management Team in ensuring that the company’s financial results not only accurately reflect the reality of its performance, but drive changes in behaviours to continually improve that performance.  Her role within the team ensures that Lorna gets involved in lots of areas of the business, from forecasting and budgeting to assisting with contracts and tenders.  This makes for an interesting and varied day.

“The key principles I want to instil are around attention to detail and process.  When we get this right, both out in the field, but also internally, everyone benefits”.

Lorna’s role with Mila Maintenance and Installation obviously overlaps heavily with what she still spends much of her week doing.  As Head of Group Finance, she oversees the group’s financial reporting, planning, risk management and treasury functions, liaising with the Board and key external stakeholders as well as providing support for their network of business units globally.
